Join TUS Library staff in celebrating Library Ireland Week 2025 as we honour the life and legacy of Jane Austen.
“Libraries Light the Way” is this year’s theme for Library Ireland Week and Jane Austen was indeed a trailblazer, lighting the way for the creation of many complex characters in literature.
Born in December 1775, Jane’s 250th birthday is just around the corner and to mark this momentous occasion, we have compiled a selection of library resources that will allow you learn more about Jane’s life and works.

The TUS Library collection features many print books and ebooks of both Jane’s literary works and companion guides. There is plenty to choose from for anyone who wishes to enjoy one of her novels, learn more about her life or explore literary interpretations of her writing.

Enjoy an adaptation of an Austen classic, such as Pride and Prejudice, using Kanopy, the TUS Library video streaming service.
Visit
Visit us in TUS Library in Athlone during the week of December 1st to 6th 2025 and cast your vote for your favourite Jane Austen novel. Results will be shared across our socials and everyone who participates will be entered into a prize draw.
